There are numerous facilities in Tynemouth, close to the cottages we have the Grand Hotel and the Park Hotel, each with their own restaurants and public rooms, some evenings with entertainment.

There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants well within walking distance, serving traditional carvery, Chinese, Italian, Indian as well as fine dinning. 

For the Children Tynemouth Long Sands, the Boating Lake Tennis Courts, Toy Museum and Sea Life centre are all close by.

Front_street Tynemouth Priory, Tynemouth Watchtower and Collingwood's Monument are all also within walking distance.

There is a market every Saturday on Tynemouth station platform, including antiques, jewellery, plants, books etc. There is also a general market every Sunday with arts, crafts, books, CD’s and so much more. A farmers market comes to Tynemouth every third Saturday of the month.

 

   

 

Getting to Tynemouth

By Car

By Train

From The North, head South down the A1 to the A19 Seaton Burn turn off, follow the A19 down to the A1058 Coast Road, head towards Tynemouth, keep going until you pass the Park Hotel (on your left) and reach the seafront, turn right and follow the road along the seafront and turn right just before you reach the Grand Hotel, turn immediately left and you are on Percy Gardens Cottages.

From the South, Head North thought the Tyne Tunnel (A19) follow the A19 up to the A1058 Coast road, head towards Tynemouth, follow this road down to the coast, drive along the seafront until you reach the Grand Hotel and turn left straight after it, turn left immediately and you are on Percy Gardens Cottages.

From Newcastle simply head towards the coast on the Coast Road (A1058) and follow the same instructions above as if you were coming from the North

The best way to get to Tynemouth by Train is to go to Newcastle Central Station, then use the Metro system. Train Journey times form London, Manchester and Birmingham to Newcastle range between 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours and 15 minutes. The train journey from Edinburgh to Newcastle is about one and a half hours.

The Metro Station is directly underneath the train station and is easy to find.

Newcastle International Airport

Newcastle International Airport is fastest growing regional airport in the UK. Travelling from the airport to Tynemouth is easy as it has its own Metro station. The airport serves a wide range of domestic and international flights.

The Metro System links Tynemouth to other local areas such as Whitley Bay and Cullercoats as well as Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland

The Metro station in Tynemouth is just off manor Road which is connected to Front Street (the main shopping street in Tynemouth)
